Vance to speak at Lincoln Day dinner

SIDNEY — The Shelby County Republican Party will be hold its annual Lincoln Day dinner on Thursday, March 2, 2017, at the Palazzo in Botkins.

The featured speaker will be J.D. Vance, best-selling author of “Hillbilly Elegy.” Vance grew up in the Rust Belt city of Middletown, Ohio, and the Appalachian town of Jackson, Kentucky. He enlisted in the Marine Corps after high school and served in Iraq.

A graduate of The Ohio State University and Yale Law School, he has contributed to the National Review and The New York Times and has appeared on Fox News, CNN, MSNBC, and CNBC. Vance is eager to return to Ohio to head a nonprofit, which will work towards solutions for challenges the working class faces, including the opioid crisis, education and the breakdown of the family.
