SIDNEY — The Shelby County Junior Leaders are sending some “love” to U.S. troops for Valentine’s Day.

The group is collecting Valentine’s cards (handmade or store bought) along with items to create care packages to send to those on active duty away from home during the holiday.

Items we are collecting include:

• Candy-including chewing gum and mints-preferably anything but chocolate

• Fruit Snacks

• Chips-snack sized

• Beef Jerky

• Cookies and crackers- Snack Packs- Oreos, Cheese-its, Nutter Butter Bars, etc.

• Deodorant

• Shampoo and conditioner

• Socks – men’s and women’s sizes

• Toothpaste and toothbrushes

• Lotion

• Wet Wipes

• Razors and shaving cream

Collection of the items ends on Jan. 23. Items are being collected at OSU Extension office and in many of the county schools.
