PORT JEFFERSON — Ann and Michael Weber, of Port Jefferson, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary, Friday, March 3, 2017, with a family dinner.

Michael and the former Ann Harvey were married March 3, 1967, in the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sidney. Pastor Swinehart performed the ceremony on a cold day with ice and snow on the ground. Ann wore a white, two-piece suit and a short mauve veil. Mike wore a three-piece black suit. White mums on the altar were from Julia Weber, the bridegroom’s mother. Mike had gone to work that morning and told “all the guys” he had to leave work on time because he was getting married right after work. Witnesses were Patty and Don McDaniel. The couple had met at Holiday Lanes. Ann worked at Johnson’s Restaurant, connected to Holiday Lanes, where Mike would bowl. Ann would go to the bowling alley with friends after her shift. She watched Mike bowl and asked a waitress to invite Mike to her table.

Mike is the son of the late Julia and Frank “Tot” Weber. He has two living sisters, Carolyn Allen, of Middletown, and Christine Weber, of Sidney. Another sister, Kathleen Lantis, is deceased.

Ann is the daughter of the late Pearl and Rollo Harvey. She has two deceased brothers, Robert Harvey and Richard Harvey, and a deceased sister, Virginia Harvey.

The Webers have a daughter, Julie Ann Weber-Meyer, of Botkins, and a son, James Franklin Weber of Dayton. They have two grandchildren.

Mike worked at Sideny Truck for 10 years and then for Whiteline Express in Jackson Center for 32 years before retiring. Ann worked at Johnson’s Restaurant for five years, the Omart, and then the Sidney Shelby County Health Department, from which she retired after 20 years of service.

The couple attend St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sidney.

Mike, a pilot for more than 40 years, enjoys flying — especially with his Breakfast Club friends — golfing and nature. Ann enjoys watching her grandsons play sports, shopping and lunching weekly with friends. They both enjoy shipboard cruises.
