‘Jaws of Life’ needed at crash

SIDNEY — The “Jaws of Life” were used to remove Cody Watts, 22, of Minster, and a 13-year-old passenger, of Sidney, from a roll-over crash on Wednesday morning.

According to Sheriff John Lenhart’s press release, at 7:13 a.m., Fort Loramie Fire Department and Rescue and the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to a one-vehicle crash in the 8000 block of Hardin-Wapakoneta Road.

Watts was traveling southbound on Hardin-Wapakoneta Road when he lost control of the vehicle as he crossed Mason Road. His vehicle then went off the right side of the roadway and traveled approximately 350 feet before it rolled and came to a rest on its wheels.

Watts was taken to Miami Valley Hospital by helicopter and his juvenile passenger was transported by Fort Loramie Rescue to Wilson Health.
