The battle is over. Sidney High School principal Bob Grueser will not be returning to his position next year. Superintendant Lew Blackford had recommended Grueser be given a one year limited contract. The school board members voted 3-2 to non-renew his contract. Voting against Grueser were Elizabeth Tramontana, Karen Kinninger and Bill Fuktz. Supporting Grueser were Robert Baird and David Fogt. Teacher Bill Ross and Scott Wallace, a senior at the high school, spoke in support of retaining Grueser. Wallace commented the principal has strong support among the students. “To not bring him back would be a grave mistake,” he stated.
