Lessing Fairlawn MVP

Fairlawn held a banquet recently, honoring the boys basketball team and the cheerleading squad.

In boys basketball, senior Nathan Lessing was named the Most Valuable Player. Lessing became the first player in Shelby County history to score 2000 or more points, finishing his career with 2,223. He also set a single-season scoring record this past season with 692 points.

In addition to the MVP award, he also won the awards for best offense, best field goal percentage, best free throw percentage and the Varsity Coach’s Award.

Drew Brautigam was named the most improved and Nick Brautigam the best defensive player.

Coach’s Awards also went to Jacob Couchot in junior varsity, and Isaac Ambos in freshman basketball.

In cheerleading, the Varsity Coach’s Award went to Britney Morris, the JV Coach’s Award to Kenna Knight, the Leadership Award to Beth Weigandt, and the Spirit Award to Audrey Francis.

Anna High School also held a banquet to honor the boys and girls basketball teams.

The awards were the same for both, and Most Valuable Player awards went to Macey Huelskamp and Wyatt Bensman.

The field goal percentage awards went to Huelskamp and Seth Roe, the free throw percentage awards to Taylor Kauffman and Bensman, the awards for most assists went to Kauffman and Bensman, the rebounding awards went to Huelskamp and Griffin Doseck, the most improved underclassman awards went to Kauffman and Riley Huelskamp, and the best defensive player awards went to Emma Freytag and Nathan Frilling.
