Fire causes $12,500 in damage

SIDNEY — A Sunday morning fire caused more than $12,000 damage to a house and its contents.

At 10:35 a.m., Sidney firefighters were dispatched to a report of a dryer fire at 620 S. Main S.. Sidney. The home is owned by Lance Soliday.

When Sidney firefighters arrived, they found smoke coming from the eaves and thick smoke on the second floor of the residence. Firefighters were able to quickly contain the flames. The three occupants of 620 and two occupants of 620 ½ were out of the structure on arrival. A search was performed to confirm that no occupants were trapped.

The home received fire damage to the second floor kitchen and smoke damage was noted throughout the second floor. The first floor had some minor water damage. Damage was estimated at $10,000 to the structure and $2,500 to the contents. Crews were on the scene for approximately 1 ½ hours.

A box alarm was called for all off-duty fire fighters to respond and mutual aid was received from Lockington Fire and Anna Fire. A medical call was dispatched during the structure fire and Houston Rescue provided mutual aid response.

DP&L and Vectren were called to the scene to secure the electric and gas to the structure.

The fire is accidental, and started in the clothes dryer.

There were no reported injuries to civilians or firefighters during the incident.
