Tipp City 7, Sidney 3

TIPP CITY — Sidney dropped its third game in a row Monday, losing in Greater Western Ohio Conference American North action, 7-3 to Tipp City.

The two teams were scheduled for a rematch Tuesday at Sidney.

The loss left the Jackets at 0-1 in the North and 1-4 overall.

Sidney scored twice in the second to tie the game at 2-2, but Tipp scored in every inning. The game was called after four-and-a-half innings, so the official score is 7-3, even though it was 8-3 when the rains came.

“We came up with a big hit from Caleb Harris to tie the game up in the top of the second, but we gave it back to them in the bottom of the inning.” said Sidney coach Thomas Goffena. “We have to be able to make the routine plays because our pitchers are throwing strikes. Austin McLain made one of the best plays we will see all year by diving up the middle and throwing the runner out at first to end a threat.”

Sidney had five hits from five different players, and three of them went for extra bases, doubles by Kyle Noble, Harris and Cole Hoffman.
