RIDGEWAY — Lehman went on the road and notched a key Northwest Central Conference victory Tuesday, blasting Ridgemont 17-5.

“This was a big win for us because they were undefeated in the league,” said Lehman coach Dave King.

The Cavs struck early, leading 5-2 after two-and-a-half innings. But a costly dropped fly ball allowed Ridgemont to score three times in the bottom of the third to tie it up.

Undaunted, the Cavs went out in the fourth and erupted for six runs, leading to a run-rule verdict.

“We faced a real fireballer, but we made him throw a lot of pitches early and we wore him out,” said King. “And I really liked how we came right back with six runs after they tied it.”

Parker Riley went all six innings for Lehman and allowed five hits, while striking out four. He also had three hits, scored twice and drove in three, and Owen Smith added three hits and drove in two.

Dylan Arnold singled and doubled and drove in two, Tyler Lachey doubled and scored three times, Riley and Smith also had doubles, Brandon Barhorst had two hits and scored three times, Bryce Kennedy scored three times, and Jared Magoteaux had two hits and drove in two.

The two teams play again Thursday at Lehman.
