TIPP CITY — To look at the pitching lines, one would draw the conclusion that Sidney came out on top in Greater Western Ohio Conference American North action Monday at Tipp City.

After all, Sidney pitcher Grace Shell allowed six hits and struck out 11 in just six innings, compared to Tipp’s pitcher striking out just three on a five-hitter.

But two of Tipp’s hits were home runs, and the Lady Jackets could muster just a single run in the top of the fifth in losing 5-1, their third loss in a row.

They are now 1-3 overall and 1-1 in the North, with Tipp City coming to Sidney today for a rematch.

“Grace pitched really well, and offensively we put the ball in play,” said Sidney coach Wade New. “We have them again (today), and hopefully we can even things with them.”

Tipp led 1-0 before pushing another run across in the fourth. After Sidney pulled within one again in the fifth, Tipp scored one in the bottom of the fifth and two more insurance runs in the sixth.

For Sidney, Morgan Carey was 2-for-2 and Shell had a hit and drove in the only run.

For Tipp, catcher Kaity Stocker belted two long home runs.
