3 arrested in drug raid

SIDNEY — A drug raid executed by the Sidney Police Department resulted in the arrest of three local residents.

Arrested were Eric Root, 36, 523 N. Miami Ave.; Roma Teglas, 39, 523 N. Miami Ave.; and Ashley Fitchpatrick, 28, 318 Main St., Port Jefferson.

Root has been charged with one count of drug trafficking, a fourth-degree felony, and one county of tampering with evidence, a third-degree felony.

Teglas has been charged with one count of drug possession and one count of permitting drug abuse, both fifth-degree felonies.

Fitchpatrick has been charged with one county of drug possession, a fourth-degree felony.

All three were arrested and transported to the Shelby County Jail. They are scheduled to appear in Sidney Municipal Court.

According to a press release from the department, Sidney Police Department investigators and officers executed the narcotics search warrant Wednesday, April 5, at approximately 2 p.m. at 523 N. Miami Ave., Sidney.

Recovered during the search were drugs of abuse suspected of being heroin, meth, cocaine, and fentanyl. Other items recovered were instruments for abusing drugs such as syringes, scales and other drug paraphernalia.

This warrant execution is a continuing effort by the Sidney Police Department to combat drug abuse and drug trafficking in Sidney. Information resulting in this warrant was derived in part from concerned citizens.
