WAPAKONETA — The Auglaize County Historical Society has announced the establishment of an ongoing speakers bureau for its Auglaize County: In Motion initiative.

In Motion highlights local museums and historic sites that reflect the themes of motion, movement and transportation. The new speakers bureau will help local residents learn more about these themes and direct them to historic sites and museums of interest.

Rachel Barber, administrator of the Auglaize County Historical Society, said, “In the past several years, Ohio Humanities has generously funded two grants for heritage tourism. We first identified a strong overarching theme for the county, since In Motion reflects the many transportation- and motion-related sites in the county. We’re continuing to implement the In Motion theme with the speakers bureau. Local clubs, organizations, churches, can host these fascinating programs highlighting sites in Auglaize County that residents and guests would love to visit.”

The speakers bureau currently includes the following titles and presenters: “Auglaize County: In Motion (a countywide overview of attractions)” by Donna Grube; “From Auglaize County to the Moon” by Christopher Burton and Christopher Moynihan, :The Miami and Erie Canal” by Neal Brady; “The Railroads of Auglaize County” by Dan Meckstroth and “The Shannon Players: Auglaize County’s Traveling Theatre Company” by Rachel Barber.
