SIDNEY — The petition workshop held by the Shelby County Board of Elections was successful.

Board members learned Monday morning that the workshop was held June 7 and lasted about an hour.

“Everybody there appreciated the meeting,” said Chairman Chris Gibbs. “We are here to help. Our goal is to make sure they get on the ballot.”

Director Dawn Billing discussed the office’s policies and procedures. She said the ones she was presenting are based on county-wide procedures. She said none of the policies need any changes made to them.

“These policies are here to ensure when we handle “X” situation, when it comes up again, it is handled in the same way,” said Gibbs.

No action was taken as none of the policies were changed.

The board voted to transfer 19 voting units, which cannot be used, to the Auglaize County maintenance department for disposal.

The board also learned that one of the county’s voting locations may be changing hands. The board will monitor the situation.

The board’s next meeting will be Monday, July 17, at 7:30 a.m. at the board office.
