SIDNEY — An automobile accident late Saturday night, June 23, resulted in a fatality and several injuries.
At press time, the names of people involved had not been released.
Sidney Police Sgt. Dave Godwin said in a release issued Sunday at 1:48 a.m. that the accident happened at the intersection of Court Street and Royan Avenue in Sidney at about 11:12 p.m., Saturday.
“Officers and medical personnel were dispatched to the area of the 900 block of West Court Street,” the release said. A westbound vehicle on Court Street had collided with a vehicle that seemed to be turning onto Court Street from southbound Royan Avenue.
“The southbound vehicle turned into the path of the westbound vehicle. The westbound vehicle then struck the driver’s side of the southbound vehicle,” the release said.
Multiple occupants from both vehicles were taken to Wilson Memorial Hospital at Wilson Health for treatment. A passenger in the westbound vehicle died at the scene of the accident.
The accident is under investigation.
A police department spokesperson told the Sidney Daily News, Sunday, that no additional information would be available before Monday.
