SIDNEY — A man charged with having a loaded handgun in his vehicle while he drove under the influence entered a plea of not guilty during a group arraignment in Shelby County’s Court of Common Pleas, Thursday.

Mirsaad Masrur, 22, of Troy, Michigan, was arrested, July 4, after he was pulled over for reckless driving. The Ohio State Highway Patrol incident report says Masrur claimed to have been travelling from Gatlinburg, Tennessee, to Michigan and was driving erratically because he was putting a tobacco chew in his lip. The report says Masrur was taking amphetamine salts to help him focus and later failed a field sobriety test. Troopers found a loaded 9mm Glock on the passenger front seat, a loaded 10mm Glock in the driver’s side door and a loaded AR-15-style .223 rifle on the rear floor of the truck.

Masrur entered a plea of not guilty for the charges of improper handling of firearms in a motor vehicle and operating a vehicle while under the influence. He was released on his own recognizance.

Other arraignments included:

• Michael Austin, 33, Flint, Michigan, possession of drugs and possessing criminal tools. He was released on his own recognizance and has entered a plea of guilty to the charge of possession of drugs.

• Patricia Armstrong, 61, 6910 state Route 66, Fort Loramie, improper handling of firearms in a motor vehicle and two counts of operating a vehicle while under the influence. She was released on her own recognizance.

• Russell Meyers, 66, Farmersville, Texas, possession of dugs and possessing criminal tools. Bond was set at $5,000.

• Timothy Lamb, 29, 1220 Morris Ave., possession of drugs. He remains in Shelby County Jail.
