Saturday, Aug. 26, 1892

Yesterday a young man who resides in this city went to the probate judge’s office and asked Judge Rebstick to send him to the insane asylum. He has been laying around the court house yard and sitting on the steps a greater part of the day for several days past. He said the boys had told him he was crazy and he had become convinced that such was the case. The judge told him he could not act without an affidavit being filed.

Saturday, Aug. 26, 1917

Seventy-eight exemptions have been allowed by the Shelby County exemption board among the group in the first medical examinations. All of the exemptions are based on the draftee having a wife and one or more children.

Approximately 2,000 people, members of the Lutheran churches of Botkins, Anna, Jackson Center, Montra and Sidney, were in attendance at the service Sunday afternoon at the fairgrounds commemorating the 400th anniversary of the Reformation.

Saturday, Aug. 26, 1942

Four young men, between the ages of 16 and 18, were picked up this morning by Officer Emerson O’Leary because they were taking pictures of the New York Central railroad bridge at the south edge of the city. After questioning by Chief of Police O’Leary they were permitted to leave after their film was confiscated.

Saturday, Aug. 26, 1967

Cynthia Anne Timeus, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl F. Timeus, 857 South Ohio Avenue, has been named a member of the All-Ohio Youth Symphony for the 1967 Ohio State Fair. She will be in the violin section of the 200-member group.

New teachers in the Fairlawn Schools this year include Thomas Marvin and Gary Rapp. Marvin teaches 9-12th grade Spanish and Rapp teacher 5-12th grade music. New teachers also include Jodi Watkins and Amy Zumberger. Ms. Watkins teachers fourth grade and Ms. Zumberger does Chapter I reading and tutoring.
