To the editor:

Now is the time for real change. The change Americans really need and want. That change is tax reform. President Trump’s tax proposal creates jobs and will lead to a booming economy.

Congress has the opportunity to step up now and pass real reform that will ease people’s burdens by simplifying the tax code.

The president offers a plan that will greatly boost the American economy, and Congress must support him. Lowering tax rates will give individuals more control over their own money, which is the way it should be. His proposal will also boost economic growth, which in turn will produce jobs. As the president has mentioned, if the U.S. achieves 3 percent growth, 12 million new jobs would be created.

Congress must not falter this issue. They must support the president and make real change to the rigged system we are in. We need a tax code that benefits real Americans, not just the wealthy and well connected. We need a simplified system for individuals, and a tax rate that gives small business owners a break so they can become more competitive and boost U.S. jobs. The president understands this. I hope Congress gets it too.
