Police chase leads to arraignment of Houston man

SIDNEY — A Houston man was arraigned for obstructing justice on Thursday, Sept. 28, following his involvement with Shelby County Sheriff Office’s search for a man running from police.

Chad Lawson, 43, 3114 State Route 66, Houston, was charged with obstructing justice for concealing the whereabouts of Michael Cotterman, 46, 1318 Constitution Ave., while Cotterman hid at Lawson’s residence from Shelby County Sheriff deputies. Lawson was released on a bond of his own recognizance.

Cotterman was allegedly hiding from law enforcement after he fled in a high speed chase on March 10, 2017.

According to the police report, the chase was initiated when Officer James Cunningham allegedly attempted to serve Cotterman and Jody Napier-Bunnell with warrants at Napier-Bunnell’s 1201 Hilltop Ave. address. The two defendants allegedly fled from police in a vehicle before crashing on State Route 47 headed towards Sidney Freyburg Road. Cotterman allegedly backed the damaged vehicle into two police cruisers that were attempting to block him in and drove away again. Cotterman was charged with two counts of vandalism and failure to comply with the order of a police officer for that incident.

Cotterman also appeared for arraignment Thursday on charges possession of drugs and possession of criminal tools. Bond was set at $5,000.

Other who were arraigned on Thursday are:

• Curtis Stueve, 25, 101 First St., Apt. C, Russia, two counts of assault. Bond was set at $10,000 and a no contact order with the victim was issued.

• James Waller, 35, Dayton, domestic violence. A $1,000 bond from Sidney Municipal Court was continued and a no contact order with the victim was issued.

• Brad Moffitt, 42, 613 S. Highland St., felonious assault. A $15,000 bond from Sidney Municipal Court was continued and a no contact order with the victim was issued.

• Michael Engle, 32, 229 S. Brooklyn Ave., possession of drugs. A $22,500 bond from Sidney Municipal Court was continued.

• Melody Brandts, 26, Celina, two counts of possession of drugs and one count of possessing criminal tools. She was released on her own recognizance.

• Shayla Skeens, 20, 740 Broadway Ave., possession of drugs. Bond was set at $2,500.

• Maria Figueroa, 33, Canton, Michigan, receiving stolen property. Bond was set at $2,500.

• Richard Eaton, 55, 3576 Wapakoneta Ave., having weapons under disability and aggravated menacing. He was released on his own recognizance and a no contact order with the victim was issued.

• Matthew Shoe, 34, 615 East Ave., three counts of possession of drugs and one count of possessing criminal tools. Bond was set at $5,000.

• Shelbi Brandyberry, 30, 823 Court St., aggravated possession of drugs and possessing criminal tools. She was released on her own recognizance while awaiting release from jail on Oct. 28, 2017.

• Rosemarie Hensley, 38, 4662 Hardin Wapakoneta Road, aggravated possession of drugs and possessing criminal tools. Bond was set at $2,500.

• Albert Taylor, 43, 818 Buckeye Ave., aggravated trafficking in drugs. His bond was continued.

• Randall Hammer, 53, 113 E. South St., illegal conveyance of prohibited items onto detention grounds. He was released on his own recognizance while awaiting release from jail on June 6, 2018.

• Raivan Taborn-Clark, 22, 2335 Collins Ave, Apt. E, forgery. She was released on her own recognizance.

• Katrina Fitzgerald, 20, 314 N. Ohio Ave., tampering with evidence and receiving stolen property. Bond was set at $5,000.

• Harold Engley, 39, 628 East Ave., domestic violence. Bond was set at $10,000 and a no contact order with the victim was issued.

• Devon Brown, 23, at large, burglary. Bond was set at $7,500.

• Brett Taylor, 34, 1420 Garfield Ave., having weapons while under disability and domestic violence. He was released on his own recognizance and a no contact order with the victim was issued.

• Bryant Pennington, 39, Detroit, Michigan, possession of drugs and possessing criminal tools. A $2,500 bond from Sidney Municipal Court was continued.

• Ryan Parrett, 28, 1220 Morris Ave., aggravated possession of drugs and possessing criminal tools. He was released on his own recognizance while awaiting release from Miami County jail in June 2018.

• Nick Mariano, 40, 1620 Ash Place, aggravated possession of drugs and possessing criminal tools. A $2,500 bond from Sidney Municipal Court was continued.

• Randall Callihan Jr., 25, Cumberland, failure to provide change of address. Bond was set at $5,000.

• Desmond Smith, 27, 2026 Grove St., possession of drugs. Bond was set at $2,500.

• Amanda Barnes Hensley, 35, Van Wert, possession of drugs and possession of criminal tools. A $5,000 bond from Sidney Municipal Court was continued.

• Marqueese Knight, 22, Xenia, possession of drugs and possessing criminal tools. Bond was set at $7,500.

• Landon Murray, 22, 1703 Letitia Drive, possession of drugs and possessing criminal tools. Bond was set at $2,500.
