Weekend roundup: Jackson Center wins tri-match at West Liberty-Salem

WEST LIBERTY — Jackson Center won a tri-match with Urbana and West Liberty-Salem on Saturday. The Tigers beat Urbana 25-8 and 25-10 and beat West Liberty-Salem 25-18 and 26-24.

Raquel Kessler led Jackson Center on Saturday with 21 kills, eight digs and six blocks while Caroline Frieders had 13 kills and 19 assists. Katie Sosby had 30 digs, Madilynn Platfoot had 20 assists and Connor Pipke had 13 digs and five kills.

The Tigers improved to 12-6 overall with the wins. They play next on Thursday at Fort Loramie.

Russia 3, Tri-Village 0

The Raiders beat Tri-Village 25-9, 25-20 and 25-12 in a nonconference match on Saturday.

Laurissa Poling had 12 kills, six blocks and six digs for the Raiders, while Cameo Wilson and Ashley Scott each had eight kills. Jenna Cordonnier had six kills, 17 assists, five aces and seven digs. Lexi Monnin had 11 assists, eight digs and two aces while Whitney Pleiman had 19 digs and three aces.

Russia (12-7, 6-3 SCAL) plays at Fairlawn on Thursday.

Anna 3, Lehman Catholic 0

Anna beat the Cavaliers 25-20, 25-14 and 25-23 in a nonconference match on Saturday.

Macy Wiktorowski led the Rockets with 11 kills, while Ashely Landis had eight kills, Emma Meyer had seven kills and Madison Roe had five kills. Lexi Wells led the team with 26 assists, while Carly Becker had 17 digs and Rachel Shoemaker had 12 digs. Meyer had seven block assists, Wells had six block assists and Roe had three block assists.

Anna (13-6, 8-2) hosts Botkins on Thursday.

New Bremen wins Van Wert Invitational

New Bremen beat Versailles 25-17 and 25-19 on Saturday to win the Van Wert Invitational. The Cardinals opened the day with 25-15 and 25-17 wins over Kalida and then beat New Knoxville 25-22 and 25-14.

Paige Jones had 32 kills to lead the Cardinals on Saturday, while Rachel Kremer, Taylor Paul and Julia Goettemoeller had 13 kills. Madison Pape had 34 assists, Abbi Thieman had 32 assists and Blake Snider had 17 digs.

New Knoxville was third. Aside from the loss to the Cardinals, the Rangers beat Lima Shawnee by two 25-18 scores and beat St. Marys in three games. The Roughriders won the first set 31-29, but New Knoxville won the second 25-19 and third 25-14.

Tasia Lauth had 27 kills on Saturday for the Rangers, while Carly Fledderjohann had 68 assists. Taylor Doty had 12 kills and 10 digs against St. Marys, while Erin Scott had 12 digs.

Fort Recovery 3, Fort Loramie 0

Fort Recovery beat the Redskins 25-19, 25-23 and 25-18 on Saturday.

McKenzie Hoelscher had five kills and Marissa Meiring had four kills for the Redskins. Hattie Meyer had 14 digs and Emily Austin had 11. Sophia Albers led Loramie with 11 assists.

Fort Loramie (10-8, 7-2) hosts Jackson Center on Thursday.

Houston loses tri-match

Houston lost to Newton 25-23 and 25-20 and lost to Riverside by two 25-21 scores on Saturday.

Girls Soccer

Anna 3, St. Marys 0

Taylor Noll scored all three of the Rockets’ goals on Saturday. Brook Hemsworth had one assist, while goalie Savanna Hostetler had five saves in the shutout.

The Rockets improved to 12-0 overall with the win. They play next on Thursday at Lehman Catholic.

Boys Soccer

Continental 9, New Knoxville 0

Ryland Dyrness had 16 saves on Saturday for the Rangers (5-7). The Rangers play next on Thursday at Jackson Center.

Cross Country

Fort Loramie girls win CVNP Invitational

Fort Loramie’s girls team won the Cuyahoga Valley National Park Invitational on Saturday in Brecksville.

Fort Loramie had 103 points to beat second-place Nordonia. There were 19 teams and 176 runners in the girls race.

Danielle Berning was the fastest racer for the Redskins at No. 7 with a time of 21:05. Paige Rethman was No. 8 with 21:12, Danielle Eilerman was No. 19 with 22:05, Caitlyn Gasson was No. 22 with 22:10, Angel Rodriguez was No. 48 with 23:22, Corynn Heitkamp was No. 53 with 23:31 and Hannah Siegel was No. 76 with 24:16.

Fort Loramie’s boys team was fifth out of 27 teams at the CVNP Invitational. There were 234 runners and 27 teams in the boys race.

Jake Rethman was the fastest runner for Fort Loramie. Rethman was No. 6 overall with a time of 17:20. Joe Ballas was No. 13 with 17:56, Noah Siegel was No. 18 with 18:05, Collin Luthman was No. 78 with 19:24, Gavin Schulze was No. 85 with 19:34, Jordan Drees was No. 102 with 19:51 and lane Eilerman was No. 114 with 20:07.
