SIDNEY — Valedictorians in Sidney and Shelby County high schools were recently awarded Lola Detrick Carmony Scholarships.

Houston, Jackson Center, Lehman Catholic, Russia and Sidney High School valedictorians were eligible when the graduation fell in an odd-numbered year. Each school’s valedictorian was to receive a $500 scholarship, which was equally divided if a school had multiple valedictorians.

Sharing the Houston award are Isaiah Beaver, Kaitlyn Ellison and Kyle Flaute. The Jackson Center award is shared by Camryn Hoehne, Cassie Meyer and Christen Ware. Russia graduates Madison Borchers, Samuel Cook, Dylan Cordonnier, Shaelynn Goubeaux, Maria Herron, Chloe Sherman and Audrey Voisard divided the Russia scholarship.

Receiving the full award are sole valedictorian graduates Jacob Schmiesing of Lehman Catholic and Katherine Robinson of Sidney High.

The Lola Detrick Carmony Scholarship was established in the mid-1970s and is administered through the Community Foundation of Shelby County.
