
ANNA — Fort Loramie’s boys and girls cross country teams won Shelby County Athletic League titles on Saturday at Anna in the league’s championship race. The boys won with 30 points and a team time of 1:25:51, and the girls won with 27 points and a team time of 1:44:12.
Fort Loramie’s Jake Rethman won the individual boys title with a time of 16:21, nearly 30 seconds faster than teammate Joe Ballas, who was second with 16:49. It completes a remarkable run for Rethman, who has not lost a race to another SCAL runner since seventh grade.
Fort Loramie sophomore Danielle Berning won the girls race with a time of 19:59. She was 10 seconds faster than Russia senior Megan Frazier, who was second.
The rest of Fort Loramie’s top seven boys runners included Noah Siegel, 5, 17:06.2; Collin Luthman 8, 17:37.2; Jordan Drees, 14, 17:56.4; Mitchell Berning, 16, 17:57.7; and Gavin Schulze, 21, 18:29.8.
The Houston boys cross country team finished second with 54 points and a team time of 1:28:01. Tristin Freistuhler was the Wildcats’ fastest runner at No. 4 with a time of 17:02.
The rest of the Houston’s top seven included Ethan Knouff, 6, 17:08.6; Blake Jacobs, 11, 17:50.2; Dakota Francis, 15, 17:57.3; Jacob Slater, 18, 18:02.4; Parker Cox, 20, 18:23.6; and Patrick Meiring, 23, 18:43.9.
Botkins finished third and was led by Austin Fullenkamp, who finished third individually with a time of 16:57.
The rest of the Trojans’ top seven included Alan Fullenkamp, 12, 17:52.5; Elliot Goubeaux, 22, 18:40.2; Donovan Brown, 25, 18:49.4; DJ Poeppelman, 32, 19:18, Ethan Aufderhaar, 41, 19:41.7; and Brock Rogers, 50, 20:05.7.
Anna finished fourth.
The Rockets’ top seven included Jacob Robinson, 7, 17:36.2; Patrick Toller, 13, 17:52.9; Jacob Osborne, 30, 19:12.8; Derek Arling, 34, 19:22.6; Caleb Gaier, 35, 19:24.5; Cameron Bowsersock, 37, 19:32.5; and Preston Shannon, 38, 19:34.9.
Jackson Center finished fifth.
The Tigers’ top seven included Parker Morris, 9, 17:38.9; Christopher Elchert, 19, 18:18.7; Aidan Reichert, 28, 18:55.3; T.J. Esser, 31, 19:14.1; Jeremy Burch, 33, 19:19.5; Elisha Burch, 47, 19:53.7; and Grant Lowry, 49, 20:02.
Russia finished sixth.
The Raiders’ top seven included Zachary Bell, 10, 17:43.5; Gavin George, 17, 18:00.1; Nicholas Caldwell, 27, 18:51.3; Jonathon Bell, 44, 19:48.0; Ajay Seger, 48, 20:01.0; Henry Tumbusch, 60, 20:44.2; and Will Magoto, 63, 20:57.3.
Fairlawn finished seventh.
The Jets’ runners were Alan Asher, 40, 19:38.7; Stephen Blanford, 42, 19:44.7, Isaac Ambos, 54, 20:29.3; Jordan Henman, 55, 20:30.4, and Austin Lavins, 68, 22:23.4.
Aside from Berning, the rest of Fort Loramie’s top seven girls runners included Paige Rethman, 3, 20:27.4; Corynn Heitkamp, 6, 20:56.7; Caitlyn Gasson, 8, 21:14.8; Danielle Eilerman, 9, 21:33.7; Angel Rodriguez, 12, 21:57.2; and Jenna Thomas, 16, 22:11.
Russia’s girls team was second.
Aside from Frazier, the Raiders’ top seven runners included Becca Seger, 5, 20:51.3; Claire Meyer, 7, 21:00.9; Anna Fiessinger, 13, 22:04.0; Becky Pinchot, 23, 22:46.3; Clare Caldwell, 25, 22:48.1; and Emma Delaet, 27, 22:58.0.
Botkins finished third. Emma Koenig was the Trojans’ fastest runner at No. 10 with a time of 21:40.2.
The rest of the Trojans’ top seven included Brroklyn Flora, 14, 22:06; Makenna Maurer, 15, 22:08.1; Liza Aselage, 17, 22:14.5; Kelsie Burmeister, 18, 22:23.2; Jill Greve, 22, 22:41.6; and Arica Jutte, 28, 23:09.2.
Houston’ finished fourth.
The Wildcats’ top seven included Hollie Voisard, 4, 20:43.7; Morgan Ely, 11, 21:46.9; Danielle Stephenson, 26, 22:52.1; Addie White, 34, 24:02.4; Andrea Mantor, 44, 26:18.7; Kierstyn Oberdorff, 47, 26:39.5; and April Stammen, 48, 27:19.1.
Anna finished fifth.
Addison Brewer was the Rockets’ fastest runner at No. 30 with a time of 23:26.9. The rest of Anna’s top seven runners included Gracen Rogers, 32, 23:45.4; Ashleigh Jurosic, 35, 24:17.6; Jada Rowland, 49, 27:43.6; Lilly Toller, 50, 27:58.4; Molly Batchelder, 52, 28:22.8.
Jackson Center had four girls compete individually. Deanna Lowry was the Tigers’ fastest runner at No. 29 with a time of 23:15.2. Ariana Gross was No. 42 with 26:05.4, Jesci Baum was No. 51 with 28:11 and Jasci Baum was No. 53 with 29:17.
Madison Huelskamp was Fairlawn’s lone girls runner. She finished No. 41 with a time of 25:22.1.
Sidney boys 13th, girls 15th at GWOC meet
Sidney’s boys team finished 13th in the 19-team GWOC boys race on Saturday in Centerville.
Ian Bonifas was Sidney’s fastest runner at No. 39 with 17:40.6. The rest of Sidney’s top seven runners included Gavin Bockrath, 56, 18:27.8; Aidan Tangeman, 76, 18:57.7; Spencer Karn, 100, 20:30; Ben Spangler, 101, 20:32.2; Patrick McClain, 103, 20:35.7; and Noah Townsend, 111, 21:28.8.
The Yellow Jackets’ girls squad finished 15th out of 17 teams. Mariana Kellner was Sidney’s fastest runner at No. 64 with 22:34.
The rest of Sidney’s runners included Naida Stephens, 85, 24:59.3; Camryn Smith, 90, 25:36.4; Mikayla Smedley, 93, 25:44.8; and Savannah Garber, 95, 25:49.3.
