Jackson Center to host Fine Arts Exhibition

JACKSON CENTER — Jackson Center Local Schools will host the Jackson Center arts booster’s first Fine Art Exhibition on Thursday, Feb. 22, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Tickets are currently on sale for $10 each until Feb. 21. Each ticket provides entry into the “reverse raffle.” On the night of the event, tickets will be available for $13 each, but will not include raffle entry. To purchase a ticket, contact Cari Beth Noah by phone at 937-596-6053, ext. 120, or by email at [email protected].

The event will showcase the music, visual arts and drama programs at Jackson Center.

According to Cari Beth Noah, choir and drama director, proceeds from the function will benefit the students of these programs and will go toward the funding of things like trips, music supplies, drama materials and awards that students receive at the end of each year.

The evening will consist of performances by both Jackson Center show choirs, which includes an all-girls show choir called “Sparks,” and a boys and girls show choir called “Unleashed,” Noah said.

Several solo showcases will be given by students from both choirs, bands, the fifth-grade choir, and the drama department. A flute brass quintet will perform, and the cast from the upcoming musical, ‘Hello, Dolly,’ will be performing one song from the program.

A live auction will be held by Jackson Center High School students, Noah said. Auctioneer Troy Kies, of Anna, will be auctioning off kindergarten and first-grade students’ group projects.

A silent auction will also be held. This will involve guests writing their bids on a clip board, rather than an auctioneer facilitating.

“It’s an auction, but we don’t have to spend so much time doing the ‘live’ bit,” Noah said.

The “reverse raffle” involves picking numbers throughout the night, granting the last remaining number as the winner. The raffle prize is $250, which will come from ticket sale revenue.

The performances will take place on two separate stages throughout the evening — in the cafetorium, as well as the in the elementary school. Light hors’deuvres and desserts will be served.

“We’re just really excited,” Noah said. “(We’re) looking forward to being able to showcase and highlight the art at Jackson Center.”
