KETTLERSVILLE — In 2020, the Kettlersville Village Council approved ordinances relating to public health and safety, passing legislation on the operation of snowmobiles, off-road motorcycles, and all-purpose vehicles on village streets, golf carts, as well as adopting a noise ordinance.

Infrastructure was also a high priority, with four more storms drains on State Route 274 repaired, following up on four that were done in 2019. The Village also sought money for the reconstruction of Kettlersville Road from State Route 274 to North Street, but was unable to qualify for funding. In 2021, the Village plans to apply for funding for the project through Ohio Public Works, and is currently seeking bids for engineering and design services.
The village applied for funding for playground equipment to improve the village park, seeking a combination of local funding and a capital budget request from the state. While local funding was not obtained, and with the approval of the state budget slowed by COVID- 19, the village did not receive word on state funding until January 2021, when its request for $50,000 was included in the budget signed by the governor.
The shelter at the park, damaged in a summer windstorm, was demolished in December after rot was discovered in the support posts for the roof.
A new fiscal officer, Sara Lammers, was sworn in at the January 2021 meeting, following the retirement of long-time fiscal officer Linda Miller at the end of 2020.
Also at the January 2021 meeting, council approved replacing the existing streetlights throughout the village with newer, more efficient LED lighting. The lights are now on order and will be installed later this year by DP&L crews.
Other planned street related projects include repainting curbing in the various no parking zones around the village and sweeping of streets as needed.
Woody’s Diner will be opening in the former K-Ville Grille location later this spring, although an opening date has yet to be set. Remodeling work continues inside.
Businesses located within the Village include Sunrise Cooperative, Steinke Metal Fabricating and the U.S. Post Office. The Immanuel United Church of Christ is located near the center of the village. The Van Buren Township Building and the Kettlersville/Van Buren Township Fire Department are located on North Street.
Members of councicl include President Lonnie Miller, Karen Berning, David Greer, Vickey Greer, Betty Ike and Ida Kaminsky. the fiscal officer is Sara Lammers. The zoning officer is Randy Wentz.
Council meets the first Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. in Council Chambers, 8844 State Route 274.
