4-H club completes community service projects

MCCARTYVILLE — The McCartyville Producers 4-H Club held two meetings and did community service since the last meeting.

On March 28, the 4-H club held a meeting at the Van Buren Fire Department. The firemen talked about different equipment on their fire trucks also on what they use and wear. They also let the kids put out a small fire, which the firemen started, with a fire extinguisher. The kids were allowed to shoot water from their hoses with the help of the firemen. Big thanks to the Van Buren Fire Department in Kettlersville.

The McCartyville Producers did a community service by picking up trash on the side of the roads in Van Buren Township on April 10. We also held a meeting on April 25. We went over 4-H camp, picked the design, and ordered T-shirts, and Makayla Bruson organized a recreational/community service project – we made cards for nursing homes, and discussed the process of fair projects and enrolling them online this year. A health and safety report was done by Lexi Koverman, on seat belt safety and driver safety – preventing distractions.

Our next meeting will be held on June 6, 2021.
