


VERSAILLES — Versailles FFA members competed in the Darke County FFA Parliamentary Procedure Contest on Monday, Nov. 22.
As part of the Parliamentary Procedure contest, each team, consisting of six to eight members, was responsible for completing a fifteen-minute demonstration of parliamentary procedure that included using six different abilities and motions. Each student also took a test that assessed their knowledge of rules of order related to parliamentary procedure.
The varsity team consisted of chair Dalton Hesson, Secretary Elise George, and members Colin Batten, Zoe Billenstein, Gabe White, and Camille George. The team placed first overall in the county. The varsity team will move on to the district contest on Dec. 2.
Versailles FFA also had two teams competing in the first year, or Novice Division. Both teams were composed entirely of eighth graders. The first place team overall consisted of President Ethan Wilker, Vice President Jayna Luthman, Secretary Ruth Smith, Treasurer Ava May, Reporter Jack Borchers, Sentinel Isaac Brown, Student Adviser Grace Borchers, and member Haley Mescher. The second place overall team consisted of President Ian Bergman, Vice President Brooke Bergman, Secretary Shawna Schmitmeyer, Treasurer Roger Winner, Reporter Amelia Grillot, Sentinel Eden Barga, Student Adviser Paige Gehret, and member Sam Albers. The first place team will move on to the district contest on Dec. 2.
