SIDNEY — Makenna Jo Cabe and Parker Scott Russell were joined in marriage at the Indianapolis Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on March 11, 2022.

James J. Chrisman performed the ceremony. Chrisman is a family friend as well as clergyman and performed the wedding of MaKenna’s sister several years ago. It was a small intimate wedding including family and a few close friends. A large reception honoring the couple was held the next night, March 12, in Huber Heights.

The bride’s parents are Del and Darla Cabe, of Sidney. Her grandparents are Ronnie and Paralee Riggs, of Cincinnati, and the late Noel and the late Barbara Cabe, of Elk, Washington.

The bridegroom’s parents are Eric and Jodie Russell, of Sidney. His grandparents are Gary and Tove Russell, of Sidney, and Robert and Janice Gull, of Spanish Fork, Utah.

Bridesmaids were Grace Schmiesing, of Piqua, and Leti Calderon of Orem, Utah. Flower girl was Olivia Rozier, niece of the bride. Best man was Aidan Russell, brother of the bridegroom.

The bride wore an ivory lace gown with a train. The bodice was accented with a diamond sash. Her veil was a simple sheer one, accented at the top with a diamond clip. Her large bouquet, which was created by her mother, was full of blush and mauve roses and calla lilies, accented by eucalyptus and pearls.

MaKenna is a graduate of Lehman Catholic High School as well as Brigham Young University-Idaho, where she received a degree in Marriage and Family Professional Clinical Studies and is a certified Family Life Educator. She is currently employed at FISH of Shelby County as the client coordinator and office manager.

Parker is a graduate of Anna High School and Upper Valley Career Center. He is an electrician with Wells Brothers in Anna.

The couple knew each other most of their lives as they attended and grew up in the same church. Their parents are good friends. After graduating from college, MaKenna lived and worked in Utah and then moved back to Sidney last year. Parker had recently completed a two-year mission for the church and returned to Sidney just before MaKenna did. The couple became re-acquainted as adults and began dating. In October 2021 Parker proposed and MaKenna said “yes” much to the delight of their parents and church family.

The newlyweds honeymooned in Amish country, in Holmes County, and will reside in Sidney.
