PIQUA — Piqua Arts Council has invited nationally and internationally awarded artist, Bonnie Griffith, to instruct a pastel workshop beginning Monday, July 18, and running through Thursday, July 21. The workshop will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily at the Apple Tree Gallery, 405 N. Main St, Piqua.
“We’re thrilled to add a Pastel Workshop to our calendar this year, in addition to our traditional Watercolor and Oil Painting Workshops – signature artist workshop offerings here at the Arts Council. We’re constantly looking for ways to diversify our artist opportunities, and we’re excited to bring Bonnie on board with this one,” Piqua Arts Council Executive Director Jordan Knepper said. “It’s definitely something our artists are looking forward to.”
As an artist of the western landscape, Griffith works in oils and pastels, allowing her to create paintings that have the brilliance and the bold color apparent in the landscapes of the western United States. Her goal is to create work that draws the viewer in to experience and imagine the time of day, the temperature, the sounds, the smells – to get lost in it – if only for a moment.
As a professional artist since 1990, Griffith has studied under and worked beside some of the most famous artists in the area. She is extremely involved in the art scene, being a signature member and Secretary for the Pastel Society of the West Coast, a signature member and past President of the National Pastel Society, member of the Landscape Artists International, Plein Air Painters of Idaho and American Impressionist Society, and more.
