Husted takes early steps for future statewide run

COLUMBUS – Ohio Lt. Gov. Jon Husted announced Wednesday he has filed a “Designation of Treasurer” with the Ohio Secretary of State’s Office, laying the initial groundwork for a future run for statewide, executive office.

“Our family and faith have led Tina and me on our journey of service to others,” said Husted. “We have done that in our community, through non-profit organizations, our church, and in public office. I am proud of what we have accomplished and of the direction Ohio is now heading, but there is more work to be done. After thought and prayer, Tina and I have agreed: We will continue serving this state and its people – working toward a more prosperous future for everyone, and we will do so as long as the people of Ohio will have us.”

In addition to filing the designation, today marks the launch of the new JonHusted.com.

Husted also named Blake McNamara to serve as finance Ddirector for Jon Husted for Ohio. McNamara is a longtime member of the Husted team and a veteran political fundraiser, having previously served as finance director for the DeWine Husted for Ohio committee, both DeWine Husted Inaugural Committees, and Husted’s previous successful campaigns for Secretary of State.

Ohio law only allows a candidate to possess one campaign committee with their name. The previously-known “Husted for Ohio” was closed when Husted was named Gov. Mike DeWine’s running mate in November 2017. The DeWine Husted for Ohio committee has been renamed for the Governor, only.

The newly-formed committee will use the disclaimer “Jon Husted for Ohio.”
