KETTLERSVILLE — Expansion and improvement are two words to describe activities in Kettlersville in 2022.

Mayor Eric Kaminsky reports Sunrise Cooperative made a major investment in the village, constructing four new buildings, including a large warehouse and shop at the corner of McCartyville Road and state Route 274. Other buildings were for expanded storage facilities and a sheltered truck parking.

Kaminsky’s report continues:

At the village park, playground equipment was installed. Funding was provided by a $50,000 capital improvement grant from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, with additional funding from monies received under the American Rescue Plan Act. New basketball hoops and nets were also installed.

The village also received funding from the Ohio Public Works Commission for reconstruction and repaving of Kettlersville Road from state Route 274 to North Street. The work will begin this spring.

Another repaving project planned for 2023 is the alley between Kettlersville Road and East Street. Other street projects include repainting of curbing in no parking zones throughout the village and street sweeping as needed.

Planned upgrades at council chambers include a new computer system and repainting of the building.

In 2023, the village will mark 150 years since it was platted in 1873 by Christopher Kettler, and then named after him.

Businesses located within the village include Sunrise Cooperative, Steinke Metal Fabricating, Woody’s Diner at K-Ville and the U.S. Post Office. The Immanuel United Church of Christ is located near the center of the village. The Van Buren Township Building and the Kettlersville/Van Buren Township Fire Department are located on North Street.

Council president is Lonnie Miller. Members of council are David Greer, Vickey Greer, Betty Ike, Ida Kaminsky and Mike Tully. The zoning officer is Randy Wentz. The position of fiscal officer is open. Committees for the village include streets, finance, lands and buildings. Mayor Kaminsky also represents the village on the Shelby County Regional Planning Commission.

Regular meetings are held the first Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. in Council Chambers, 8844 State Route 274, Kettlersville.
