Spring brings big projects to the People’s Garden

The People’s Garden at Agape Distribution in Sidney is in urgent need of people who can help with some difficult projects. We started the garden 10 seasons ago and are planning an open house April 22.

Are there adult groups in town that are willing to help accomplish these jobs before the end of April? We have always had support from the generous community of Sidney and surrounding communities. The garden is at Agape Distribution, 209 Brooklyn Ave., corner of Brooklyn and Court. Feel free to visit and survey to see what needs to be done. Someone from the People’s Garden can meet you there.

One large project is to have some trees cut down at the edge of the woods that are on two sides of the raised bed garden. One of the trees is a huge cottonwood that shades half the garden in the summer.

The other project at this time is to have a group help put together new garden bed enclosures. We have the frames and need to put chicken wire on the frames. Some of the garden beds will need some adjustments to the frame. Building skills needed such as sawing wood, using a power stapler and an impact driver.

Please contact Conelia Dixon at 937 726 9525, leave a message if there’s no answer, I might be in the garden! Thank you so much in advance.
