To the editor:

Religion and politics don’t mix. Have you heard that lie? Religion, more specifically Christianity, defines truth, reality, and the very reason humans exist. Politics is simply the mechanism we use to choose our government. And government is a tool God has ordained for the good of all people. Christians have a right and a responsibility to shape their government in God-honoring ways. The goal of many, however, is to “silence” Christians in politics and government. And who do you think is behind that?

The Apostle Peter warned us that “our adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour” (1 Peter 5:8). Jesus said “he was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth because there is no truth in him” (John 8:44). Our “adversary” wants to eliminate Christian influence in politics and government, so his lies are not countered by God’s truth! Ephesians 6:12 provides a great description of the nature of this battle.

Christians celebrated the overturn of Roe versus Wade last June. The US Supreme Court finally admitted that there never was a federal “right” to an abortion in the Constitution. Our “adversary” claimed over 60 million lives in 50 years because of that egregiously bad “progressive” government overreach. But the prayers and political activism of God’s people finally prevailed. Now, the abortion battle rages in every state. Unfortunately, Ohio is poised to lose that battle again in November. Twenty-two of our Republican legislators, led by Jason Stephens, betrayed pro-life conservatives. Their self-serving actions paved the way for an amendment to our state constitution that includes some of the most anti-God, anti-family, and anti-life language possible. Speaker of the House Jason Stephens continues to obstruct conservative efforts to prevent that from happening. If God (and His people) don’t intervene, this horrendous language will be enshrined in our state constitution on Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2023.

Christians, this is a call to action! If you are not registered to vote, please get registered ASAP! If I can help in any way, please email me! Spread the word to fellow Christians! Visit protectwomenohio.com to learn more about the fight ahead! Contact your nearest right-to-life organization (http://www.shelbycountyrtl.org) to offer help. Opportunities will increase throughout the summer. And pray! Only God knows how many prayers He answered when Roe was overturned. The need for prayer has not diminished!
