Saturday scoreboard: Jackson Center loses to Coldwater for first time, Russia girls win

Coldwater 51, Jackson Center 41:Jackson Center lost to the Cavaliers for the first time in program history in a nonconference game on Saturday in Coldwater. The Cavaliers led 25-23 at halftime and pulled away with a 9-2 edge in the third quarter. Reed Platfoot led Jackson Center (0-2) with 18 points.

Ansonia 62, Houston 43: The Tigers led 28-22 at halftime and pulled away with a 14-9 edge in the third and 20-12 edge in the fourth. Ethan Krieger led Houston (2-2) with 20 points.

New Knoxville 57, Fairlawn 41: The Rangers led 29-17 at halftime. Fairlawn cut the gap to 34-29 by the end of the third quarter, but New Knoxville finished with a 23-12 edge in the fourth. Drew Westerbeck led the Jets (0-3) with 18 points.

• Girls basketball

Fort Loramie 69, Arcanum 17: Victoria Mescher scored 17 points and had six steals and four rebounds, Summer Hoying scored 11 points and had six rebounds and Skyler Albers scored 11 points and had three steals. The Redskins (5-1) led 23-6 by the end of the first quarter and 43-12 at halftime.

Anna 61, Fairlawn 18: The Rockets improved to 3-2 overall and 2-1 in SCAL play while the Jets dropped to 1-5 and 0-3, respectively.

Russia 43, Houston 34: The Raiders improved to 3-3 and 2-1 in SCAL play while the Wildcats dropped to 2-3 and 1-2, respectively.
