Football roundup: Lehman Catholic dominates Covington

COVINGTON — Lehman Catholic built a 30-point lead by halftime and pulled away further in the second half to beat Covington 50-6 in a Three Rivers Conference game on Friday at Smith Field.

Lehman Catholic senior quarterback Donovan O’Leary completed 15-of-25 passes for 193 yards with three touchdowns and ran for 146 yards and three TDs on 10 carries.

Turner Lachey caught six passes for 45 yards with one TD and Evan O’Leary caught two passes for 28 yards, including a 21-yard TD reception. Da’Ron Pride ran for 40 yards and one TD on five carries.

The Cavaliers had 392 yards of offense and held Covington to 128.

Devin Pride and Seth Knapke each intercepted one pass. Dillon Schmiesing led the squad with four tackles.

Donovan O’Leary scored on a 62-yard run, threw the TD pass to Evan O’Leary, scored on a safety and scored on a 1-yard run in the first quarter to give the Cavaliers a 22-0 lead. He threw a 1-yard TD pass to Lachey and scored on a 9-yard run in the second to push the lead to 36-6 at halftime.

The Cavaliers (5-3, 3-2 TRC) are scheduled to travel to Troy Christian (2-6, 1-4) this Friday.

Fort Loramie 35, Van Buren 12

The Redskins gradually pulled away to a comfortable win on Friday in Van Buren.

Will Holland ran for 216 yards and two TDs on 35 carries and caught three passes for 52 yards and one TD.

Carter Eilerman ran for 58 yards and two TDs on four carries. Max Maurer completed 5-of-15 passes for 62 yards with one touchdown and one interception.

Holland scored on a 16-yard TD run and Eilerman scored on a 30-yard run in the first five minutes to put the squad ahead 14-0.

But the Redskins didn’t score again the rest of the half, and Van Buren scored on a 69-yard TD pass to cut the gap to 14-6 at halftime.

Holland scored on an 8-yard TD run midway through the third, and after an interception, Holland scored on a 57-yard run to boost the lead to 28-7.

Eilerman scored on a 19-yard TD run in the fourth quarter.

Maurer intercepted two passes and Holland intercepted one. Brock McCumber recovered one fumble and led the squad with six tackles.

Fort Loramie (5-3) is scheduled to travel to Lucas (5-3) this Friday.

Marion Local 42, Anna 8

The Rockets were tied with Marion Local at the end of the first quarter but couldn’t keep up the rest of the way and lost a Midwest Athletic Conference game on Friday in Maria Stein.

Zach Osborne scored on a 4-yard TD reception from Alex Shappie and Trey Heitkamp caught a two-point conversion pass to tie it 8-8 in the first quarter.

But the Flyers scored twice before halftime to take a 21-8 lead, then scored three times in the third to start a running clock.

Marion Local had 371 yards of offense while Anna had 112.

Shappie completed 10-of-24 passes for 108 yards with one touchdown and one interception. The Rockets managed four yards on the ground.

Heitkamp caught six passes for 79 yards and led the squad with six tackles. Clay Cummins and Jacob Taylor each recovered one fumble.

Anna (3-5, 2-4 MAC) is scheduled to host Fort Recovery (1-7, 1-5) this Friday.
