Feb. 15, 1916

Frank Sayre, A Republican, was named councilman-at-large when city council met last evening to fill the vacancy recently created by the recent death of Thomas M. Marshall. He was named on the first ballot of the nine names submitted to fill the vacancy. At the same time the council named Harley Baker as president pro-tem, to replace Edward Bland who was appointed president of council by Mayor Crozier.

Almost every member of the township trustees in the county were in attendance at the meeting held in the assembly room at the courthouse this afternoon. The meeting was called for the purpose of discussing the best manner of handling the care of the county and township roads. County engineer , and prosecuting Attorney Mills made extended talks upon the question explaining the laws governing the roads.

Feb. 15, 1941

H.E. Bennett was elected president of the Shelby County Deer Hunters Association when members of the group held their annual dinner meeting last evening. H.H. Dearth was named vice-president and Chet Lee secretary and treasurer. More than 125 members and guests attended the dinner in which venison and elk were served, furnished by some of the members from their last big game hunt.

Members of the cast to present the Theater Guild production “Ah Wilderness” were announced today. The cast includes: Larin Swisher, Willa Woodruff, Tom Potter, Robert Crusey, Jane Brunner, John Maurer, William Boller, Ruth Frantz, Dwight Parks, Merle Boller, Paul Emely, Dorothy Keyes, Marjorie Garhausen, H.V. Wheeler, and Jimmy Kelley.

50 years

Feb. 15, 1966

Some 300 Sidney High School and Holy Angels High School are expected to participate in the Youth Employment Opportunities night to be held Thursday evening at Sidney Senior High School. Patterned after similar programs in past years, the project is under the sponsorship of the education committee of the Sidney Chamber of Commerce working with the guidance and counseling department of Sidney Schools.

Mrs. Raymond B. Farow, Jr. will be giving the meditation February 25th at the First Baptist Church, Sidney when the church members of this city join their counterparts across the nation and around the world in the annual observance of the World Day of Prayer.

Feb. 15, 1991

Dr. A. Robert Bauer of Salt Lake City Utah will join Shelby County Surgical Associates on a temporary basis, beginning tomorrow, said Dr. Enrique Montana of the surgical group and Wilson Memorial Hospital.Bauer will work with Montana and begin seeing patients on Friday. He will be substituting for Dr. Robert J. McDevitt Jr., and Dr. David J. Cloney who have been called to active duty from the Army reserves.

Jay and Diana Heitkamp of Minster have a pair of Valentines Day gifts they can enjoy for many years to come. The special delivery took place in Wilson Memorial Hospital in Sidney. The couple became the parents of twin sons this morning and they are named Matthew Thomas and Joshua Thomas. Mother and babies are doing fine.
