PIQUA — A multi-vehicle crash involving three Shelby Countians just north of Piqua left several victims needing medical treatment on Tuesday, Nov. 6.

First responders were called to County Road 25-A at Troy-Sidney Road on a reported three-vehicle crash around 3 p.m.

Both lanes of County Road 25-A were shut down due to the crash and Fletcher firefighters closed the highway farther north in order to secure a landing zone for CareFlight, the Piqua Daily Call reported.

Parker Hennessey, 16, of Dayton, was transported aboard the medical helicopter to Miami Valley Hospital. Two patients were taken by ambulance to area hospitals.

According to Miami County Sheriff’s Deputy Tom Wheeler, captain of the road division, a black Dodge 1500 pickup truck, driven by Trey Weber, 16, of Anna, was northbound on County Road 25-A when he failed to yield to a southbound red Ford F250 truck on Troy-Sidney Road, that was driven by Jason Levering, 42, of Sidney. The two vehicles hit head-on.

A white sedan, driven by Tammy Coy, 55, of Sidney, that had been following Levering’s truck was unable to stop and also struck the red truck.

The impact sent the black truck into a field while the other two vehicles remained in the roadway.

Weber was transported by Piqua EMS to Upper Valley Medical Center. Levering was taken by Sidney medics to Wilson Health. Coy was checked at the scene but did not need to be transported to the hospital. Hennessey was a passenger in Weber’s truck.

Piqua Police were in the area and stayed on the scene after Miami County deputies arrived. Piqua Fire Department responded with a rescue truck and medics. Sidney medics and Fletcher Fire Department were also dispatched as mutual aid.

Weber was cited with failure to yield after Miami County deputies investigated the crash.
