ANNA — The Anna Civic Association is raising funds to build a splash pad for Anna’s community park. The Anna Splash Pad Fund at the Community Foundation of Shelby County receives gifts for the project.
Splash pads have become a popular alternative to public swimming pools, with no additional water testing or staffing costs. They feature a flat surface with water sprays bubbling water into the air or through water features. They are accessible to anyone visiting the park and have no admission price. The splash pad would be operational during warmer months and within daylight hours. The water sprays and features run only when activated by someone using the splash pad.
The project goal is $350,000 with approximately 30 percent raised to date from individual, foundation and corporate donors. Construction could start as early as spring, 2022, if enough is raised. The goal amount would construct a 2,500 square foot pad, but a smaller pad may be built, if less is raised.
The splash pad will be located at the park in a centralized area near the restroom building that is not being used for playground, soccer or baseball.
“We researched other community splash pads and found that they are economical, with very low water costs,” said Abbey Bensman with Anna Civic Association. “In addition, they bring local residents and visitors to area businesses, but most importantly, they give families one more activity to draw them to live here.”

Gifts may be made payable to the Community Foundation of Shelby County with “Anna Splash Pad” noted on a check’s memo line or in an accompanying note. Three-year pledges are also welcome.
