ST. MARYS — Midwest Electric is launching the #WhoPowersYou contest to recognize and reward cooperative community volunteers.

#WhoPowersYou is in partnership with America’s Touchstone Energy Cooperatives and is a national contest to promote volunteerism.

“We know it’s more than just electricity that powers communities; it’s volunteers,” said Midwest Electric CEO Matt Berry. “This contest is designed to celebrate local heroes. It’s a chance for our co-op members and employees to nominate someone who’s making a difference in our community and an opportunity to celebrate the power of human connections.”

Prizes total $9,000, with the grand prize winner receiving $5,000. Second place wins $2,000, third place collects $1,500, and an honorable mention receives $500.

Midwest Electric members and employees are eligible to make nominations by Nov. 4. Midwest Electric employees are not eligible to be nominated. Winners will be announced in December.
