OhioMeansJobs releases data about area online job postings

SIDNEY — A total of 16,773 job openings were posted online from Aug. 14 through Sept. 13 for Auglaize, Champaign, Clark, Clinton, Darke, Fayette, Greene, Mercer, Miami, Montgomery, Preble and Shelby counties, according to data from the Conference Board.

This was an increase of 189 ads from the previous reporting period. Compared to the same time period a year ago, this reflects an increase of 1,026 ads.

Ads for jobs paying $50,000-$79,000 comprised 42.3 percent of the ads. Ads for jobs paying $30,000 to $49,000 annually comprised 18.8 percent of those placed. Ads for entry level jobs, paying less than $30,000 were 13.8 percent of the total; those paying $80,000 to $99,000, 11.3 percent; and six-figure jobs, 13.8 percent.

Employers with a local presence among those placing the most ads were Lowe’s in second place wtih 187 ads; Crown Equipment Corp., in third place with 176 ads; U.S. Army in eighth place with 142 ads; U.S. Air force in ninth place with 106 ads; Speedway in 13th place with 91 ads; Clopay Corp. in 14th place with 84 ads; Auto Zone in 15th place with 84 ads; Edison State Community College in 22nd place with 64 ads; Wright State University in 30th place with 55 ads; CVS Health in 33rd place with 52 ads and PNC Financial Services in 34th place with 51 ads.

The 10 top occupations that employers sought workers to fill were registered nurses, truck drivers, retail salespersons, retail supervisors, software developers, production supervisors, maintenance workers, industrial engineers, customer service representatives and computer support specialists.
