SIDNEY — The Shelby County Retired Teachers Association recently chose two recipients of its annual Kent Smith Scholarship.

Cheyenne Driskell and Kayla New each received gants of $500.

Driskell is a 2015 graduate of Fairlawn High School and attends Ohio University, where she studies family and consumer sciences and business administration. She is the daughter of Christy and Shawn Driskell.

New is a 2016 graduate of Houston High School and attends Wright State University Lake Campus. She studies early childhood education and is the daughter of Carie and Brent New.

The scholarships will be awarded during a luncheon of the Shelby County Retired Teachers Association in August. The scholarship program is supported by retired teachers from the public school systems in Shelby County, Christian Academy and Lehman Catholic. The funds have been collected by donations, sales and memorials.
