Lehman Catholic taps new members of National Honor Society

SIDNEY — Lehman Catholic High School recently selected new members for its chapter of the National Honor Society with a traditional tapping by current members during a school assembly.

A formal induction ceremony will be held Sunday afternoon, Jan. 31, at the school. Current officers of the group will preside over the ceremony for the new members and their parents.

Seniors selected as new members are Malachi Bezy, Stephen Monnin and Emma Simpson. Juniors selected are Eli Baker, Hannah Fogt and Madison Hussey. New sophomore members are Maria Adams, Brandon Barhorst, Melanie Brunner, Grace Dexter, Jake Emrick, Theresa Flood, Abby Jones, Meaghan McDonald, Alanna O’Leary, Clare Schmiesing, Amanda Titterington, Kelsey Weber and Hailey Wick.

Students are selected as candidates for membership based on grade average and activity points. Students who meet these criteria are then evaluated by the Lehman faculty in the areas of leadership and character.

The Lehman National Honor Society recognizes academic excellence but is also a service organization on campus. Included in the club’s yearly activities are peer tutoring, mum sales for homecoming, a Thanksgiving food drive, gym cleaning after basketball games, and ambassador duties during Lehman’s open house. The faculty adviser is Pam Wendel.
