SIDNEY — Fairlawn Local Schools’ High School Student Council will be sponsoring the annual homecoming celebration on Friday, Dec. 18. Crowning of the king and queen will be held at 6 p.m. before the basketball games against Jackson Center. The homecoming dance will be held Saturday, Dec. 19. from 8 to 11 p.m. in the school cafeteria.
The theme for this year’s festivities is “A Night on the Red Carpet.” The theme song is “Life of the Party” by Shawn Mendes. Crowning the king and queen will be last year’s Homecoming queen Cheyenne Driskell, daughter of Shawn and Christy Driskell of Sidney, and king Stephen Matthews, son of Chad Matthews and Michelle Martin of Sidney.
Vying for the king’s crown are Logan DeMarcus, son of Brandon DeMarcus and Holly McDonald, of Sidney; Gage Fitzgerald, son of Andrew and Amy Fitzgerald, of Sidney; Aaron Hammond, son of Frank Ludwig and Tina Kindle, of Sidney; and James Skeens, son of Frank Ludwig and Tina Kindle, of Sidney.
Candidates for queen are seniors Madison Allison, daughter of Dean and Cari Allison, of Maplewood; Mollie Roe, daughter of Ron and Amy Roe, of Sidney; Katharina Viethen, exchange student, daughter of Cory and Maribel Huelskamp, of Sidney; and Paige Vondenhuevel, daughter of Luke and Christina Vondenhuevel, of Sidney.
Freshman attendants are Lane Greiwe, son of Jeromy and Season Greiwe, of Quincy, and Mikayla Pierce, daughter of William Pierce and Monica Clay, of Sidney. Sophomore attendants are Drew Brautigam, son of Andrew and Angela Brautigam, of Sidney, and Allyson Duckro – daughter of Mitchell and Stacie Duckro, of Sidney.
Junior attendants are Daron Goff, son of Bonnie Goff, of Pemberton, and Ashlynn Weigandt, daughter of Chris and Yolanda Weigandt, of Pemberton.
The master of ceremony is Troy Fletcher, son of Heath and Shannon Cromes, of Sidney. The mistress of ceremony is Savanna McLain, daughter of Jim McLain and Lori McLain, of Sidney.
Kindergarten students who are serving as junior attendants are Ezra Alexander, daughter of Derek Alexander and Jamie Alexander and stepdaughter of Jennifer Alexander, of Sidney; Daisy Vondenhuevel, daughter of Luke and Christina Vondenhuevel, of Sidney; Jonathan Chrisman, son of Joseph and Heather Chrisman, of Sidney; and Colton Keener, son of CJ and Sally Keener, of Sidney. They are crown bearers and will be carrying the flowers and cape for the newly-elected queen and king.
