Upper Valley CC names students of the quarter

PIQUA — Dillon Underwood, Botkins High School Senior, and Jaclyn Schmiesing, Jackson Center High School Senior, were named the Upper Valley Career Center Students of the quarter for the first nine week grading period.

According to Upper Valley CC Director of Student Services, Matt Meyer, Underwood is an Ag & Power Technologies II major and Schmiesing is a Teacher Academy major. They were selected from a group of seven nominations for the quarter honors.

Jaclyn Schmiesing is the daughter of Andy and Kelly Schmiesing of Jackson Center. She was recommended by her Teacher Academy instructor, Becky Kleinhenz who shared that Jaclyn consistently goes above and beyond anything asked of her, is diligent, helpful, and independent. Her academic teachers state Jaclyn is respectful, hard-working, a great leader.

Dillon Underwood is the son of Jon and Jody Underwood of Botkins. He was recommended by his Ag and Power Technologies instructor Jeff Weeks. He said, “Dillon is an outstanding leader of the Upper Valley Career Center FFA Chapter.” This year Underwood is taking advantage of the school’s Advanced Placement option attending academic classes each morning and working in his chosen career field each afternoons at Thieman Quality Metal Fab Inc., New Breman, Ohio.

Students earning an Award of Merit designation for Student of the Quarter honors are: Katie Bodiker, Medical Information Management I, Julianna Yingst, Early Childhood Education and Care II, Samantha Bensman, Exercise Science II, Dakota French, Carpentry II, and Alisha Bell, Digital Design and Technologies II.
