SIDNEY — Holy Angels’ sevemtj-grader Samantha Sargeant was awarded a first place medal in the Academy of Science, State Science Day held last June in Columbus, Ohio.

Samantha’s winning project was entitled ‘Oh, Deer!-How to repel all these Squirrels?”

Because of her award, Samantha has been invited to attend the Ohio Wildlife Management Association’s annual conference, where she will display her project.

According to Geoff Westerfield, president of the Ohio Chapter of the Wildlife Society, Samantha earned her honor due to her “outstanding work to spotlight a present day wildlife related problem , to explain the extent of the problem, for her thorough identification of the species affected, and a discussion of practical solutions.”

The Ohio Wildlife Management Association annual conference will take place at the Nationwide and Ohio Farm Bureau 4-H Center at the Ohio State University on Friday, Jan. 18, 2019.
