FL Education Foundation awards scholarships

FORT LORAMIE — The Fort Loramie Education Foundation is a broad based, non-profit community organization whose purpose is exclusively educational and charitable. Its charge is to operate for the benefit of students, former students, and all persons seeking education whose parents have been or who presently are taxpayers in or residents of Fort Loramie School District.

The 2021 Fort Loramie Education Foundation Scholarships were awarded to:

• Ben-Med Memorial Scholarship, $1,000: Grace Rose. Her parents are Brad and Kelly Rose. She will be attending the University of Dayton.

• Brad Meyer Baseball Memorial Scholarship, $1,024: Darren Hoying. His parents are Ryan and Audrey Hoying. He will be attending Edison State Community College.

• Elmer and Marty Schafer Memorial Scholarship, $1,000: Grant Albers. His parents are Scott and Kelly Albers. He will be attending the University of Dayton.

• Faulkner, Garmhausen, Keister, & Shenk Leadership Scholarship, $1,000: Clara Gephart. Her parents are Jack and Renee Gephart. She will be attending The Ohio State University.

• Fort Loramie Community Service Club Scholarship No. 1, $1,000: Paige Eilerman. Her parents are Brian and Kari Eilerman. She will be attending Bowling Green State University.

• Fort Loramie Community Service Club Scholarship No. 2, $1,000: Reece Boerger. Her parents are Craig and Lisa Boerger. She will be attending Wright State University.

• Homer & Mary Lou Bornhorst Family Scholarship, $1,500: Hannah Raterman. Her parents are Ronald and Joann Raterman. She will be attending The Ohio State University.

Hugo and Thelma Meyer Memorial Scholarship, $1,000: Maya Maurer. Her parents are John and Amanda Meyer. She will be attending the University of Findlay.

James F. and Marcia L. Schulze Scholarship #1, $2,000; Zachary Pleiman. His parents are Mark and Jill Pleiman. He will be attending Wright State University – Lake Campus.

James F. and Marcia L. Schulze Scholarship #2, $2000; Justin Puthoff. His parents are Jeff and Becky Puthoff. He will be attending The Ohio State University.

John & Victoria Albers Memorial Scholarship, $1,000: Haley Wolfe. Her parents are Brian and Stacey Wolfe. She will be attending the University of Findlay.

Joseph & Mary Borchers Memorial Scholarship, $500: Grace Rose. She is the daughter of Brad and Kelly Rose. She will be attending the University of Dayton.

Leo J. Meyer Memorial Scholarship, $1,000: Katelyn DeLoye. Her parents are Scott and Lynn DeLoye. She will be attending Ohio Northern University.

Madeline Maurer Memorial Scholarship, $1,000: Melissa Kunkler. Her parents are Charlie and Carol Kunkler. She will be attending Bowling Green State University.

Mike and Mary Jo Barhorst Family Scholarship, $1,000: Devin Wray. His parents are Chad and Brenda Wray. He will be attending Wright State University.

Minster Bank Scholarship, $1,000: Emily Holthaus. Her parents are John and Kelly Holthaus. She will be attending the University of Dayton.

Osgood State Bank Scholarship, $1,500: Jadyn Puthoff. Her parents are Jim and Jenny Puthoff. She will be attending Kettering Medical College.

• Paul & Veronica Perin Scholarship, $1,000: Corynn Heitkamp. Her parents are Douglas and Kristin Heitkamp. She will be attending the University of Dayton.

• Ralph W. Eilerman Family Scholarship, $1,000: Jordyn Koverman. Her parents are Steve and Michelle Koverman. She will be attending Wright State University.

• Ratermann Insurance Agency Scholarship, $1,000: Angelica Rodriguez. She is the daughter of Michelle Rodriguez. She will be attending The Ohio State University.

• Red & Black Memorial Scholarship, $1,000: Alex Knouff. His parents are Patrick and Jennifer Knouff. He will be attending Wright State University – Lake Campus.

• Richard and Shirley Simon Memorial Scholarship, $1,000: Ava Grudich. Her parents are Chris and Jenny Grudich. She will be attending the University of Cincinnati.

• Ted & Anita Barhorst Scholarship, $500: Alex Knouff. His parents are Patrick and Jennifer Knouff. He will be attending Wright State University – Lake Campus.

• Thomas E. Schafer Scholarship, $2,000: Angelica Rodriguez. She is the daughter of Michelle Rodriguez. She will be attending The Ohio State University.

• Thomas E. Schafer Skills Scholarship, $2,000: Ellie Holthaus. Her parents are Jon and Amy Holthaus. She will be attending Edison State Community College.

• Urban and Pauline Ratermann Family Memorial Scholarship No. 1, $1,000: Danielle Eilerman. Her parents are Nick and Katie Eilerman. She will be attending the University of Kentucky.

• Urban and Pauline Ratermann Family Memorial Scholarship No. 2, $1,000: Ella Raterman. Her parents are Ronald and Joann Raterman. She will be attending the University of Cincinnati.

The current officers and directors of the Fort Loramie Education Foundation are, Jenni Wilt, president; Neil Borchers, vice president; Julia Moore, treasurer; April Brandewie, secretary; Dan Holland, superintendent; Melissa Bertke, director; Jamie Borchers, director; Ty Salisbury, director; Brad Rethman, director/school board representative; and Lisa Ruhenkamp, director/school board representative. FLEF has developed a Mentor Program. The intent of this program is strictly to benefit the students by providing an avenue to establish contact with Fort Loramie Alumni for the purpose of the exploration of a certain profession and career planning. Consider joining the Alumni page provided on the school’s website at http://www.loramie.k12.oh.us/Alumni.aspx., in order to help build the contact base for the upper-classmen.
