SIDNEY — The Sidney Noon Kiwanis Club has named Isaiah Beaver its February 2017 Teen of the Month.
Beaver is a senior at Houston High School and ranks first in his class with a grade point average of 4.0.
He is the son of Becky and Matt Beaver. He has four siblings, Dominic, 16, Elijah, 13, Luke, 12, and Carmen, 7.
His academic activities, honors, and awards include National Honor Society, Academia, student council and Houston FFA. Beaver has won the Honda OSU Math Medal and the Red Hot Chili Pepper Award, and has been on the highest honor roll.
Beaver has been a member of the varsity baseball and basketball teams, where he served as team captain. He was named Defensive Player of the Year in both sports. He is involved in the Houston Livestock 4-H club, has served as FFA president, is a Mass server and volunteer at St. Peter and Paul Church, is a blood donor and has helped with the Houston food booth.
He plans to pursue a degree in civil engineering from either the University of Dayton or the University of Cincinnati.
