NEW KNOXVILLE — Hiring and approving bus routes topped the agenda of the New Knoxville Board of Education, which met in regular session, Aug. 28.

The board hired the following: Donna Hoge, media specialist; Laura Gengler, part-time cafeteria worker; Kim Wirwille, substitute van driver and ticket-taker; Terry Halko, substitute van driver; Ali Carpenter, ticket-taker; Lester Settlage, Bill Starr and Bonnie Rismiller, substitute bus drivers; Monnie Rismiller, substitute aide; John Dircksen, substitute custodian; Joy Fledderjohann, Mary Bensman, Amy Brewster, John Bernstein, Dennis Henschen, Melissa Homan, Tim Niekamp, Mark Fledderjohann, Deb Cassaza, Jami Leffel, Susan McDaniel, Dwain Meckstroth, Ken Nuss, Chuck Rowen, Mindy Settlage, Ellen Topp Becky Roetgerman, Jessica Brown, Deb Elsass and Brian Claybaugh, substitute teachers; Olivia Spieles, Nikki Schwieterman, Abby Lageman, Kayla Jaynes adn Rachel Leffel, line judges; Tawnya Brogan, Chris Schroer and Beth Shreve, ticket takers; John Sailer and Pam Bergman, German Club advisers; and Stephanie Fledderjohann, fall play director.

In other action, the board:

• Approved Preston Meyer as Tri-Star board member.

• Approved bus and van routes for 2017-2018.

• Approved carry-over vacation days for two staff.

• Recognized student Liberty Menke for winning a national essay contest.
