SIDNEY — The Lehman girls basketball team was hoping to take over sole possession of first place in the Northwest Central Conference Thursday night, but Upper Scioto Valley came away with a 55-45 victory in a match between the only two teams that were unbeaten in league play.

The loss dropped the Lady Cavs to 4-1 in the league and 7-9 overall heading to St. Henry today. Upper is now 4-0 in the league and 12-3 on the season.

The visiting Lady Rams had to overcome an eight-point halftime deficit to pull out the victory. They did it by outscoring the Lady Cavs by 18 in the second half, pouring in 40 points over the final two periods.

Lehman had excellent scoring balance. Alanna O’Leary had 10, Kassie Lee nine and Grace Monnin and Allie Hall eight each. But that wasn’t enough to overcome the 26-point effort by Upper’s Emily Patton.

Lee and Hall both pulled down nine rebounds for Lehman.
