TROY — Several Sidney athletes — all of which are underclassmen — punched regional tickets in the Division I district meet that was held Wednesday and Friday at Troy Memorial Stadium.
Sidney freshman Garrett Guinther finished first in boys pole vault. He cleared 13 feet, 5 inches on his first try to seal an individual district title. He missed three attempts at 13-8.
One other boy earned a district berth: freshman Julius Spradling, who finished third in the 400-meter dash in 51.36.
Sophomores Kiara Hudgins and Kyla Rush each earned district berths in long jump. Hudgins finished third with a leap of 16-9.75 while Rush was fourth with a leap of 16-0.75.
Sophomore Emily Fleming finished third in the 800-meter run in 2:24 to earn a district berth. The 4×400 relay of Fleming, Kyla Rush, Amya Thornton and Zoe Overholser finished fourth in 4:19.
The top four finishers in each event earned district berths.
Some finals were held on Wednesday along with preliminary races. Most finals were held Friday.

Minster 23, Kansas Lakota 0
The Wildcats won a Division III sectional final in five innings on Friday in Minster.
Johnny Nixon picked up the win on the mound for Minster (17-9). He pitched four innings and gave up three hits and two walks while striking out two batters.
Nathan Beair was 2 for 3 with 3 RBIs and three runs while Nixon was 4 for 4. Brady Wolf was 2 for 3 with 3 RBIs, Zach Fortman was 3 for 4 with 4 RBIs, Adam Rindler was 2 for 2 and Eli Rindler was 1 for 2 with 3 RBIs and one double. Tyler Stueve hit one double.
The No. 4 seed Wildcats had 19 hits and committed one error. Lakota had four hits and committed three errors.
Minster advances to face No. 1 Pemberville Eastwood in a district semifinal on Thursday in Elida.

Russia 10, Houston 0
The Raiders won a Shelby County Athletic League game in five innings on Friday in Houston.
Xavier Phlipot picked up the win on the mound for Russia (18-6, 10-1). He pitched two innings and gave up four hits while striking out two batters.
Hayden Quinter was 2 for 4 with 2 RBIs with one triple while Zane Shappie was 2 for 3 and Jude Counts was 2 for 3 with two doubles. Jared Poling was 1 for 2 with one double while Grant Saunders was 1 for 2 with one walk. Braylon Cordonnier and Brayden Monnin each drew two walks. Aiden Shappie hit one double and had 2 RBIs.
Xavier Ludwig was charged with the loss for Houston. He pitched four innings and gave up five earned runs on five hits and five walks.
Jake Leist was 2 for 3.
Russia had 10 hits and committed one error. Houston had six hits and committed two errors.
It was the final game of the season for Houston, which finished 13-14 overall and 5-7 in SCAL play, good for a third-place tie with Anna, Botkins and Jackson Center.
