Saturday roundup: Fort Loramie boys, girls earn district titles at Piqua D-III meet

PIQUA — Fort Loramie’s boys and girls track squads won Division III district titles by finishing first in the district meet at Piqua’s Alexander Stadium.

Some finals were held Tuesday, along with preliminary races. Most finals were held Saturday.

The Redskins’ girls squad finished first with 159 points, 64 ahead of second place Dayton Christian.

Three athletes swept the 800-, 1,600- and 3,200-meter runs. Mylee Shatto won the 800 run in 2:23 while Claire Rethman finished first in the 1,600 in 5:32 and Lauren Moore won the 3,200 in 12:10.

They’re three of over a dozen athletes on the squad to earn regional berths. The top four finishers in each event earned regional berths.

The 4×200 relay finished first in 1:50, the 4×400 relay finished first in 4:14 and the 4×800 relay finished first in 9:49. The 4×100 relay also earned a regional berth by finishing third in 52.32.

Sunni Voisard was third in the 100-meter dash in 13.33. Ella Boerger was third in the 400 dash in 1:04.72 while Harley Eilerman was fourth in 1:05.10.

Audrey Wrasman was third in the 100-meter hurdles in 17.52 while Abby Wrasman was fourth in 17.70. Ariel Heitkamp was fourth in the 300 hurdles in 50.85.

Riley Heitkamp finished second in high jump by clearing 5 feet, 2 inches and second in pole vault by clearing 10-0. Julian Gaier was fourth in shot put with a throw of 31-2.25.

Fort Loramie’s boys squad 1st in Piqua

The Redskins finished first in the Piqua D-III district meet with 93 points, just ahead of second-place Ansonia (91) and third-place Twin Valley South (87).

Gavin Kemper continued a stellar senior season. He finished first in pole vault by clearing 14 foot, 8 inches and finished second in the 110-meter hurdles in 16.27.

Colin Gasson finished first in the 800-meter run in 2:02.46 while Trey Ranly was second in 2:02.80. Colten Gasson was first in the 1,600 run in 4:36.

The 4×400 relay was first in 3:29 while the 4×800 relay was first in 8:44.

Frank Rethman was second in the 400 dash in 49.82. Ryan Hoelscher was second in high jump by clearing 6-2 and Luke Holthaus was fourth in pole vault by clearing 12-6.

Russia girls 7th, boys 14th

Russia’s girls finished seventh in the Piqua D-III district meet while the boys finished 14th.

Grace Hoelscher finished first in girls long jump with a leap of 16-5.5. Mackenzie Rose was fourth in pole vault by clearing 9-6.

Ella Hoehne finished fourth in the 800 run in 2:30. The 4×800 relay was third in 10:51 while the 4×400 relay was fourth in 4:23.

Russia had no boys earn regional berths. Michael Bell and Jacob Schmitmeyer came close; Bell was fifth in the 400 dash in 53.24 while Schmitmeyer was fifth in the 3,200 run in 11:14.

• GRAHAM DIV. III DISTRICT MEET

Anna girls win D-III district title

Anna’s girls squad finished first in the Div. III district meet held at Graham High School in St. Paris on Tuesday and Saturday.

The Trojans were first with 132 points, 26 ahead of second-place West Liberty-Salem.

London Reiss finished first in the 100-meter hurdles in 15.79 and second in the 300 hurdles in 49.56.

Ashley Bertke finished first in long jump with a leap of 15-8.75 and was second in high jump by clearing 5-2. She finished third in the 100 hurdles in 16.57.

Lenna Rowland finished first in discus with a throw of 125-5. Sydney Klosterman was fourth in shot put with a throw of 33-1.75.

Tanner Spangler was fourth in the 100 dash in 13.27. Paige Steinke was second in the 1,600 run in 5:31 and second in the 1,600 in 11:34.

The 4×100 relay was second in 51.47. The 4×200 relay was second in 1:49, the 4×400 relay was fourth in 2:20 and the 4×800 relay was third in 10:34.

Anna boys 2nd in Graham D-III district meet

Anna’s boys squad finished second in the Graham D-III meet with 110 points, 16 behind first-place Springfield Emmanuel Christian.

Justin Richards finished first in the 200-meter dash in 22.78 and third in the 100 dash in 11.63. He finished first in long jump with a leap of 19-9.

Hayden Schmidt was first in the 1,600 run in 4:36 and first in the 3,200 run in 10:01.

Dalton Wick was second in the 110 hurdles in 18.33 while Brandon Axe was second in the 300 hurdles in 44.27.

The 4×100 relay was first in 43.59 while the 4×200 relay was second in 1:33 and the 4×800 relay was third in 8:38.

Eli Wilson was fourth in shot put with a throw of 43-3.

Botkins boys, girls finish 4th in Graham D-III meet

Botkins boys and girls squads each earned fourth-place finishes in the Graham D-III meet.

Aleah Johnson led the Trojans’ girls squad. She was first in shot put with a throw of 38-9 and second in discus with a throw of 123-7.

Brittany Arnold and Alaina Mann each earned a regional berth in the 3,200 run. Arnold was third in 12:09 while Mann was fourth in 12:24.

The 4×200 relay was fourth in 1:52 while the 4×800 relay was fourth in 10:35.

Sophia Bajwa was third in pole vault by clearing 9-0. Camdyn Paul was fourth in long jump with a leap of 15-0.5.

Carter Pleiman finished second in the boys 800 run in 2:03.75. Keaton Schnippel was fourth in the 1,600 run in 4:41.

The 4×800 relay was second in 8:32 while the 4×400 relay was fourth in 3:37.

Jack Dietz was second in long jump with a leap of 19-7.25.

Lehman Catholic girls 3rd, boys 5th at Graham D-III meet

The Cavaliers girls squad finished third while the boys squad finished fifth in the Graham D-III district meet.

Kiersten Franklin led Lehman’s girls squad. She was first in the 100-meter dash in 12.35, first in the 200 dash in 26.41 and first in the 400 dash in 57.12.

The 4×100 relay was first in 51.12, the 4×200 relay was first in 1:47 and the 4×400 relay was first in 4:11.

Agnes Schmiesing was fourth in the 800 run in 2:31. Mara O’Leary was third in the 300 hurdles in 50.35.

Katie McFarland was second in pole vault by clearing 10-0. Daria Lee was third in high jump by clearing 5-0.

Gus Schmiesing finished fourth in the boys 110-meter hurdles while Donovan O’Leary was fourth in the 300 hurdles in 45.36.

The 4×100 relay was fourth in 45.73 and the 4×400 relay was third in 3:36.

Michael McFarland was first in discus with a throw of 155-1 and first in shot put with a throw of 45-6.5.

Several Fairlawn girls earn regional berths

Fairlawn’s girls squad finished fifth in the Graham Div. III district meet, and several girls earned regional berths.

Addison Swearingen was second in the 100-meter dash in 12.64 and second in the 400 dash in 57.22.

Belle Brautigam was third in shot put with a throw of 33-2.

The 4×400 relay was second in 4:12.

Other athletes earn regional berths

Several other area athletes earned regional berths in the Graham D-III district meet.

Riverside’s Tyler Knight finished first in the boys 300-meter hurdles in 44.20 to earn a regional berth.

Houston’s Ethan Davis was first in the 400 dash in 51.89. Ethan Funk finished second in shot put with a throw of 44-2.25 and fourth in discus with a throw of 135-7.

Jackson Center’s Kellen Reichert was second in the 1,600 run in 4:37 and second in the 3,200 run in 10:01. Xavier Esser was second in high jump by clearing 5-10.

Houston’s Emille Earl finished first in girls pole vault by clearing 10-0. She was second in shot put with a throw of 36-2 and third in discus with a throw of 117-0. Kinzy Westfall was fourth in high jump by clearing 5-0.

• PIQUA DIVISION II DISTRICT MEET

Versailles boys 1st, girls 2nd at Piqua D-II meet

Versailles boys squad finished first by 14 points in the Piqua Division II meet while the girls squad finished second, 3.5 points behind first-place Waynesville. The meet was held Wednesday and Saturday in Piqua.

Jack Osborne led the boys squad. He was first in the 400-meter dash in 50.41, second in the 200 dash in 22.73 and third in the 100 dash in 11.41. He was also third in long jump with a leap of 20-11.25.

Colton Reese was first in the 110 hurdles in 15.68 and first in the 300 hurdles in 40.99.

Evan Vanskyock was first in pole vault by clearing 13-4.

Taran Tyo was first in discus with a throw of 160-3 while Gabe Thompson was fourth with a throw of 121-7.

Brandon Keihl was first in shot put with a throw of 50-10.5. Tyo was second with a throw of 48-1.75.

Heidi Stammen was first in girls pole vault by clearing 10-6 while Brynn Briscoe was third by clearing 8-6. Tori Tyo was second in shot put with at throw of 33-3.75 while Margret McGlinch was third in discus with a throw of 91-10.

Ashley Jones was second in long jump with a leap of 16-5.5 while Cassie Bomholt was second in high jump by clearing 4-11.

Lexi Magoto was second in the 400 dash in 58.96 and second in the 200 dash in 26.70. Kelsey Francis was third in the 100 dash in 13.20.

Keira Rahm was third in the 1,600 run in 5:25 while Meredith Barga was fourth in the 800 run in 2:26.

Josephine Pothast was third in the 100 hurdles in 16.63 while Miriam Gehret was third in the 300 hurdles in 48.15.

The 4×100 relay was third in 51.42 while the 4×200 relay was second in 1:46, the 4×400 relay was second in 4:10 and the 4×800 relay was fourth in 10:20.

• SPENCERVILLE D-III DISTRICT MEET

Minster boys, girls 1st in Spencerville D-III meet

Minster’s boys and girls each comfortably finished first in the D-III district meet on Wednesday and Friday in Spencerville.

Taylor Roth finished first in the girls 800-meter run in 2:16 while Margaret Hemmelgarn was third in 2:21. Hemmelgarn was first in the 1,600 run in 5:32 while Chaney Cedarleaf was second in 5:33. Cedarleaf was first in the 3,200 run in 12:19.

Cameo Cedarleaf was second in the 400 dash in 1:01.

The 4×200 relay was third in 1:49 while the 4×400 relay was second in 4:06 and the 4×800 relay was first in 9:55.

Kayla Lamm finished second in high jump by clearing 5-1. Josi Boate was second in pole vault by clearing 9-4.

Lillian Barhorst was second in shot put with a throw of 39-5 and fourth in discus with a throw of 107-3.

Alex Albers finished first in the boys 800 run in 2:00 and second in the 1,600 run in 4:39.

Jack Kohne was second in the 200 dash in 23.59 and fourth in the 100 dash in 11.71. Joseph Slonkosky was first in the 300 hurdles in 40.96 and third in the 110 hurdles in 16.43.

The 4×400 relay was first in 3:32. The 4×200 relay was second in 1:32 and the 4×800 relay was third in 8:30.

Russell Heid was second in pole vault by clearing 13-2 while Lucas Stammen was fourth by clearing 12-6.

Tristan McDaniel was third in discus with a throw of 149-7 while Charlie Schmiesing was fourth with 148-11.

New Bremen athletes earn regional berths

Several New Bremen athletes earned regional berths.

Chloe Homan was second in the girls 3,200 run in 12:23 while Molly Dues was third in 12:36.

Mia Hirschfeld was fourth in the 400 dash in 1:02. The 4×800 relay was third in 10:07.

Patrick Bernhold was second in the boys 800 run in 2:02. The 4×800 relay was second in 8:25.

• Baseball

Russia 10, Botkins 0

The Raiders secured a share of the Shelby County Athletic League title by beating the Trojans in six innings on Saturday in Russia.

With the win, the Raiders (19-6) finish 11-1 in SCAL play. They tied with Fort Loramie for the league title.

Ross Fiessinger picked up the win on the mound for Russia. He pitched six hitless innings and gave up two walks while striking out nine batters.

Grant Saunders was 2 for 3 with 3 RBIs, two doubles and one walk while Braylon Cordonnier was 2 for 3 with one double and Hayden Quinter was 2 for 4. Zane Shappie was 1 for 2 with one walk. Jared Poling drew two walks. Xavier Phlipot hit one double.

Preston Free was charged with the loss for Botkins. He pitched three innings and gave up three earned runs on four hits and four walks.

Botkins finishes the season 13-13 overall and 5-7 in SCAL play, good for a third-place tie with Anna, Houston and Jackson Center.

Russia had 10 hits and committed one error. Botkins committed two errors.
