Preschool opening in Houston

HOUSTON– A new preschool is opening and it’s looking for children to enroll.

Director of Sunnyside Preschool Hannah Martin said they are licensed to hold 10 children right now, but will be licensed to hold the full 24 by the end of July.

The facility, located at 5465 Roeth Road, in Houston, will open Aug. 19. They have full day preschool, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Martin said they are located in a building at the Western Buckeye Christian Service Camp, but they are not a christian preschool, they are just using their facilities. She said a lot of the supplies they have were donated by area churches and organizations.

She said they have a huge outside area with a basketball court, a small jungle gym, and lots of outside games and activities, like a parachute.

The children will have designated craft, writing and spelling time. She said the rest of the time the kids will be having so much fun with the activities they won’t know they are learning.

Martin said the preschools in Shelby County fill up fast and a lot of children are being turned away, so she felt like the opportunity was there with the demand being so high.

Martin has lived in Houston since she was in second grade and is really looking forward to working with the children.

They have two staff members currently and will get more as the amount of children enrolled increases. They’ve had a couple calls from parents to enroll, but are not full yet.

To enroll call 937-295-3663 or email [email protected] with questions. They also have a Facebook page.
